We only have one planet, and we need to make it last. That's why The Floor Works is committed to finding ways to reduce the impact that our flooring products make on the Earth. That includes our line of environmentally friendly flooring, or green products, made from recycled and renewable resources. We also offer advice and solutions to reduce energy and water usage in your home, and to ensure that your installation process is green. Natural fibers and other renewable resources are incredibly versatile, and can be manufactured into carpet fibers, hardwood alternatives, and other flooring types that bring an attractive, green look to your home. Different renewable materials include cotton, seagrass, jute, hemp, cork, bamboo, corn fibers, and sisal. The Floor Works carries many of these options in the form of carpet or planks that can be laid down like hardwood. The Floor Works also carries green options made from recycled materials, like carpeting made from plastic and hardwood that's been reclaimed from abandoned buildings or sunken trees. This reduces the need for virgin materials to be harvested, as well as reducing the amount of waste in landfills, which is very green. Offering products that are already recycled isn't enough; most of our products can be recycled at the end of their useful lives as well. Whenever flooring is installed, certain adhesives, finishes and other materials must be used to keep them in place and ensure their beauty. Some of these materials may contain volatile organic compounds, or VOC's, which can be harmful to your health and to the health of the planet. Not only can they be carcinogenic and toxic, some of them are major contributors of greenhouse gasses. Be sure to discuss low or no VOC methods with us when you discuss the installation of your product. The Floor Works is committed to offering green services to the Bethlehem area.
